Ms Cupcake.

So, I know I said I'd be handing my next blog post over to Nick for a guest post but he was too slow & today was too exciting a day not to share it with you immediately.

Today was the opening day of Ms Cupcake's first store. It's in London, Brixton to be precise. I've been a fan of Ms Cupcake's cakes for ages & as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to get to work with her at Brighton Veg Fest, she's one seriously awesome vegan lady & I'm so excited for her & the rest of the cupcake crew!

I went to the opening with my friend & fellow blogger Kip from brilliant vegan recipe blog Messy Vegetarian Cook, here we are outside the store.

Kip, you're one of the only people who can make me look tall!

Of course what you really want to see is cake, right? This is just half of the counter, the cake options rotate daily and there are over 70 flavours to choose from.

As you can see it's not just cupcakes. Ms Cupcake also makes cookies, cookie sandwiches, cup-a-cupcakes, layer cakes, puddings, lemon curd & scones. I've even heard a rumour that Friday is going to be pie day so people can just swing by on their way home from work & pick up a delicious pie to take home with them.

Todays scones were Fruit, Butter and Cheese & Herb, yum. Of course I bought a Cheese & Herb one, it would have been rude not to!

Here are
Ms C's delectable Pina Colada cupcakes.

It took me a very long time to pick out some cupcakes but I eventually settled on the Ferrero Rocher cupcake, it's my favourite & I will probably snap one of these babies up every time I see them!

Of course I didn't just pick one cupcake silly, I popped a Strawberry Chocolate cupcake in my Cup-a-Cake carrier to save for later.

As I said earlier Ms Cupcake doesn't just do cake, or baked goods for that matter. The shop is full of great stuff. Kitsch ceramic cupcakes & baking sets share the shelves with aprons, cookbooks & of course Ms Cupcake branded t-shirts & mugs.

They also sell marshmallows made by Sweet Vegan which come in five flavours, Original, Strawberry, Banana, Coconut & Chocolate. I think strawberry might be my favourite.

The shelves are also piled high with vegan treats such as Nakd bars, Organica White Chocolate, Moo Free Easter Eggs, Goody Good Stuff sweets & Dairy Free Fudge.

Obviously I got fun treats to take away, cookie sandwiches in fact. Chocolate Chip with Vanilla Frosting & sprinkles ...

... and Chocolate Chip with Chocolate Frosting.

The Ms Cupcake store is in a great location right by Brixton's bustling market. You could easily pop to Brixton eat cake & do your food shopping whilst you're there. The store has undercover outdoor seating which is shared with the cafe next door (I've heard they do great coffee with soya milk) and there's even a pizza place next to that, Franco Manca, that does a cheeseless vegan pizza on a sourdough base - I haven't had the chance to taste it yet but it looked pretty amazing. Brixton also has the plus point of being on the victoria tube line which means popping there from central London or the South (Brighton people I'm talking to you!) is as easy as pie!

I think what I'm trying to say here is that the Ms Cupcake store is amazing and that Ms Cupcake & her cupcake crew are fabulous so you should pay them a visit as soon as you get the chance.

  14. I am so jealous! I wish we had a store like this near by my house. The only fear I would have is that I would gain 20 pounds a week :-) Beautiful pictures!

  15. Oh man, this sounds like heaven on earth. A place that sells fancy flavored vegan marshmallows via giant glass vats? Be still my heart!

And now, I feel compelled to recreate a Ferrero Rocher cupcake. How could I have never thought of that before?

  20. I went to Ms Cupcake’s last weekend, on our way to the London Roller Derby Bout.
I went for the Strawberry Cheesecake CupCake, which had a not overly sweet frosting and a fresh strawberry.
My partner is Wheat Free, not by choice and went for the apple spice Gluten Free and the Ferrero Rocher!
While we we're outside we noticed they were making doughnuts, and having not had one in about 5 years, I opted to wait for a fresh warm sugary ring doughnut.

I bought myself Isa's book Appetite for Reduction while I was there, to aid my recovery from the sugar fix.
It was amazing; I got a few snaps on my blog too.
